The company removed specific hiring goals, including ones to increase the representation of women and minority groups, and the term \u201cdiversity\u201d from its latest annual report, filed Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>The move comes on the heels of a series of executive orders from President Donald Trump calling for the removal of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs across the federal government and private sector. The San Francisco-based company is one of the U.S. government\u2019s largest software vendors.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"pinbox right\">\n<h3 class=\"heading\">What&#8217;s hot at TechRepublic<\/h3>\n<\/aside>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"A_shift_in_tone\"><\/span>A shift in tone<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Salesforce included a section titled \u201cEquality, Diversity and Inclusion\u201d in previous annual reports to outline initiatives aimed at building a more diverse workforce. Last year\u2019s filing reaffirmed equality as a core value, emphasizing the company\u2019s commitment to fostering an inclusive environment where employees could thrive.<\/p>\n<p>However, the latest report marks a shift in tone. The section was renamed \u201cEquality,\u201d with all references to DEI initiatives removed. Instead of detailing diversity efforts, the company now highlights its compliance with equal-pay and anti-discrimination laws across its global operations. The latest filing, presents equality as a matter of federal compliance, positioning legal adherence as the basis for maintaining an inclusive workplace.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"CEO_Benioff_has_supported_social_issues\"><\/span>CEO Benioff has supported social issues<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff has long been vocal about social issues and expressed support for LGBTQ+ employees. \u201cIf someone is going to come after our employees and discriminate against them in any way,\u201d he told Axios last month, \u201cwe will do everything we can to help them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Benioff advocated for a tax increase in San Francisco so the city could fund initiatives to help the homeless, and threatened to withdraw investments from Indiana after the state passed a law permitting anti-gay discrimination on religious grounds, <a href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/news\/salesforce-end-diversity-hiring-targets-231238082.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bloomberg reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Salesforce joins Amazon, Meta, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.techrepublic.com\/article\/google-withdraws-diversity-inclusion-hiring-goals\/\">Google<\/a>, Target, and Walmart, among other companies that have also rolled back DEI initiatives. Last week, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.techrepublic.com\/article\/apple-investors-reject-anti-dei-proposal\/\">Apple announced<\/a> it may adjust its DEI policies in response to changing legal and political measures.
